HPC ASIA is an international conference series held every 18 months on an Asia-Pacific regional site. It provides a forum for HPC researchers, developers, and users throughout the world to exchange ideas, case studies, and research results related to all issues of high performance computing. The last six conferences were held in Taipei in 1995, Seoul in 1997, and Singapore in 1998, Beijing in 2000, Australia in 2001, India in 2002.

The seventh conference, HPC Asia 2004, will be held in Omiya Sonic City, Saitama in Tokyo area, Japan on July 20-22, 2004. HPC Asia 2004 will emphasize trends in Grid computing technology in addition to high performance computing technology. Grid computing enables the virtualization of distributed computing and data resources such as processing, network bandwidth and storage capacity to create a single unified resources for high performance computing. In the last few years, it gradually gained a prominent attention in HPC communities. The Grid technology can open up new area of discovery and analysis in time frames that were previously impossible.

In addition to contributed technical papers, HPC Asia 2004 will include keynote addresses, invited/plenary speeches, panel discussions, workshops, poster presentations and industrial track presentations and industrial/research exhibits. A commercial/research exhibition will be the highlight of HPC Asia 2004.
